URGENT: New Witness Slips needed TODAY to stop abortion bills

Witness Slips against the Abortion Bills!

Springfield Lobbyists are saying they’ve never seen such a powerful public response to legislation in our state! We have been communicating clearly with our legislators, and we shut down the capitol at the rally! Great job to everyone for all your hard work to fight these horrible bills!

But the fight isn’t over yet, and we can’t let up the pressure!

I’ve got two urgent action items for you to take today:

Action Item #1: File New Witness Slips

The House versions of the abortion bills are on the schedule for the Human Services committee hearing Wednesday morning at 8:30 am.  We need to flood the committee with NEW Witness Slips before that hearing.

So even if you filled out witness slops on these bills before the previous hearing, you need to fill out new ones before Wednesday morning. 

Just follow these 4 steps:

1. Go to the Witness Slip page for each bill: HB 2495 and HB 2467. 
2. Fill in the Identification section. Unless you are representing an organization, write “None” in the “Firm/Business or Agency,” “Title,” and “Representation” fields. 
3. Mark yourself as an “Opponent” of the bill under the Position section. Under the Testimony section, click “Record of Appearance Only.” NOTE: You do not need to attend any hearing in Springfield in order to file a witness slip expressing your view. 
4. Click “Create (Slip)” and your witness slop will be filed with the committee, and you will receive confirmation at the email address you provided. 

ACTION ITEM #2: Call your State Senator

The Senate version of the Repeal of Parental Notice of Abortion Act, SB 1594, passed out of committee last week and could come up for a vote any day. Find you state senator’s phone number at the link below and give them a call to respectfully ask that they vote NO on SB 1594.

It can’t be emphasized enough the importance of adopting a respectful tone when you make this call.

Please fill out those new witness slips opposing the House bills and make that call to your State Senator right away. Please pass this on to your friends and spread the word on this important issue!!!
