News From the Sidewalk
At 1:30 pm on Thursday, December 19, 2019, an employee of Springfield Right to Life witnessed an ambulance called to the Planned Parenthood abortion facility located on Bruns Lane in Springfield. Just minutes before the ambulance and a firetruck arrived with sirens blaring, the SRTL sidewalk counselors and peaceful prayer warriors left for the day.
A woman was carried out on a stretcher and into the ambulance. The ambulance remained in the Planned Parenthood parking lot for about 15 minutes before leaving the lot with only lights flashing and without sirens heading in the direction of the hospital district.
While the public is often told that abortion is a safe option for women and Planned Parenthood is even referred to as a “health clinic”, those of us who are paying close attention know that health is not what is being delivered at Planned Parenthood. Those performing abortions in Springfield do not have to be regulated or even have to be doctors. This facility is not held to any type of legal accountability or even common public health codes as even your local restaurants are held to. Does this thought give you chills? It should. Illinois has now become the hub for unregulated easy access abortions in contrast to nearby states like Missouri which have cracked down on health and safety measures. The tragic consequence of this is not just the deaths of thousands of children yearly but also women who continue to be hurt by Planned Parenthood staff without accountability.
Please pray for this woman and all of those facing an unplanned pregnancy to know that there is help and support available and that they do not have to risk their lives or end the lives of their child to get through the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy.
