Rose Marie Moore 1932 – 2020
Rose Marie Moore, 87, passed away peacefully in her home on September 12, 2020, in Springfield, Illinois surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born on October 3, 1932, in Springfield, the first daughter of the late Dominic Sr. and Elizabeth Greco. She attended Cathedral Grade School (Class of ’46), Sacred Heart Academy (Class of ’50), and earned an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Lincoln Land Community College in 1990.
Rose found great joy in her husband of 58 years, James Gilbert Moore Sr., whom she married on January 6, 1951. She missed him every day after he passed away in May 2008. She also delighted in her two daughters, nine sons, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dozens of nieces and nephews. Rose was the School Secretary at St. Cabrini Grade School and then worked in Administrative Coordination roles at Horace Mann Insurance and Illinois Department of Conservation (now IDNR) for a number of years, retiring in 1997.
Rose gave and received much grace through decades of serving as a volunteer in the Springfield Catholic community. As a Catechism teacher at St. Agnes Parish, she prepared many for entering the Catholic Church. Rose became a Dominican Associate in May 2003, which allowed her to deliver Holy Communion to local hospital patients.
Rose is survived by her brother, Dominic Greco Jr. of Chatham, two daughters, Marie Shepherd of Wauconda and Kathleen (husband Thomas) Raymundo of Capitola, California; seven sons Joseph Paul (wife Kitsie) Moore of Springfield, Daniel (wife Sara) Moore of Webster Groves, Missouri, Dominic (wife Ramona) Moore of Ceres, California, Andrew Moore (partner Liz Wiley) of Williamsburg, Virginia, Timothy (wife Donna) Moore of Springfield, Matthew (wife Jenni) Moore of Arvada, Colorado and Martin (wife Susan) Moore of Austin, Texas. Rose was preceded in death by her sons, James Moore Jr. of Dekalb and Christopher Moore of Springfield; her sisters Joanne Bateman and Dawn Ann Greco of Springfield and brother Alphonso (Bunky) Greco of Springfield. Rose (Nana) is survived by a legacy of 24 grandchildren and 17+ great-grandchildren with more on the way. Rose (Aunt Rosie) loved her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and step-relatives. Rose was a stand-in mother for her many friends and co-workers. Rose, Nana, Aunt Rosie will be greatly missed by everyone her life has touched.
Richard Joseph Judd 1941 – 2020
Richard Joseph Judd was born September 18, 1941, in Granite City, Illinois to Francis Edwin Judd and Cleta Marie Reinhardt. The cornerstones of his life were his family, faith, music, and education.
Rich performed in 42 productions at the St Louis Muny. After he was married and had a family he continued to entertain audiences in community theater at the Springfield Theater Center, The Springfield Muni, and New Salem Theater in the Park. He also sang in the Blessed Sacrament Choir for 35 years. Singing was one of Rich’s great joys in life. His other passion was fishing in the trout streams of Missouri. He often shared it wasn’t important if he caught any fish. He was there for the quiet moments standing in the stream. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and Past President of Springfield Serra Club. Rich was sober for 45 years and was pleased to share that sobriety experience with anyone in need and will be missed in that community as well.
Ernest J. Antonacci, Jr. 1925 – 2020
Springfield, IL—Ernest J. Antonacci, Jr., 95, of Springfield, died at 4:49 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Ernie was born April 21, 1925, in Springfield, the son of Ernest J. Sr., and Elizabeth Saccenti Antonacci. He and his beloved wife, Alice, who preceded him in death on August 18, 2020, were married at St. Agnes Catholic Church on July 6, 1946.
Ernie was a 1943 graduate from Cathedral Boys High School, where he was a Golden Glove Boxer. Upon graduation, he enrolled in the U.S. Army and served with General Patton’s Third Army in the European Theater, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. Ernie earned numerous medals and citations, including three Bronze Battle Stars. Ernie spent most of his adult life in residential construction and real estate. He built many homes in Springfield and the surrounding areas, including the subdivision where he and Alice lived for almost 60 years. Ernie was an active member of Little Flower Catholic Church. He enjoyed planning reunions with his Cathedral Boys’ High School classmates, attending Honor Flight gatherings, and he proudly rode in the Annual Veterans Day Parade. He will be remembered as a loving husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle. Ernie was truly a gentleman.
In Memory of Rev. John Carberry 1927 – 2020
He was born May 15, 1927, in Springfield, to Thomas and Margaret (Sullivan) Carberry. They preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were four sisters, Anna Catherine Moore, Veronica Brandon, Frances Josephine Moore, and Mary Margaret Gengler.
He graduated from Cathedral Boys High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
The Rev. John P. Carberry was ordained May 30, 1981. He was an assistant pastor at St. Patrick’s in Decatur and assistant chaplain at Millikin University from 1981 to 1986. He was pastor at Holy Trinity in Stonington and St. Stanislaus in Macon from 1986 to 1989. From 1989 to 2002, he was pastor at St. Boniface in Quincy. He later became a parochial administrator at St. Boniface from 2002 to 2006 and retired in 2006.

We will miss the beautiful, joyful face of Joyce Huber here at Springfield Right to Life. Joyce came out to the sidewalk frequently and attended rallies that promoted the sanctity of human life.
Joyce was a member of Kumler United Methodist Church in Springfield, Springfield Right to Life, Table of Life Prayer Ministry, and dedicated her life to the Lord’s work.
She was preceded in death by her father.
We know Joyce will be interceding for us in our work at Springfield Right to Life.
In Memory of Mary Alice Owens 1930 – 2020
Mary Alice was born on October 24, 1930,in Springfield, the daughter of Edward and Arama (Waters) Roche. She married William B. “Bernie” Owens in 1956, in Springfield.
Mary Alice graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. She was a member of the St. Louise de Marillac Bridge Club and Springfield Chapter of Right to Life, where she was honored as Mother of the Year. Mary Alice volunteered at the school library and St. Joseph’s Home. She was an avid bridge player and loved sewing, cooking, crocheting, and bowling, but mostly spending time with her family. Mary Alice welcomed anyone and everyone at any time with a good home-cooked meal.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Bernie Owens; and her infant brother, James.

Cliff Erwin 1944 – 2019
Cliff served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1964 until 1970. He was a driver and CPR Instructor for the Sangamac Volunteer Ambulance in Auburn, Illinois, from 1980-1983 and a licensed realtor for many years. Cliff also served on the boards of numerous organizations, including the Illinois Federation for Right to Life, the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Charities, Diocesan Review Board, and various other charitable organizations. He was also very active at St. Agnes Parish, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Martin de Porres.
Cliff led a very active life. He enjoyed hiking (especially the Appalachian Trail with his brother, Mark), woodworking, landscaping, and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling to visit his daughters in Florida, Colorado, and Connecticut.
Marilyn K Huss 1937 – 2019
Marilyn was a resident of Springfield, formerly of Loami, where she lived as a homemaker. She is a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Chatham and formerly a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Berlin.
Marilyn lived for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was also a professional cake decorator and made the best rhubarb pie, banana bread, and grape jelly. Even fried chicken was not a challenge for her.
Marilyn’s love for life and children lives on through her family. Her children & grandchildren support Right to Life’s mission of praying for the conversion of hearts & minds of the mothers & workers at the abortion facilities.
Gabrielle Margaret Yocum 1993-2014
Gabrielle Margaret Yocum, 21, of Springfield, died at 2:49 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, in Macomb.
She was born June 11, 1993, in Springfield, to Todd L. and Kimberly R. Sloan Yocum.
Gabrielle was a loving, fun, compassionate person who did not know a stranger. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and recently attended Little Flower Church. She attended St. Cabrini and graduated from St. Joseph’s Grade School. She was a graduate of Chatham Glenwood High School. Gabby worked as a nursing assistant at Heartland Rehab in Macomb and was currently attending Western Illinois University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was also a member of the Army National Guard.
